Questions That Can Change Your Life
Ask the Right Questions, Change Your Life. I don’t know about you, but I have been ready to begin 2021! I’ve been thinking a lot lately about two related questions: If not us, who? If not now, when? I see them as inspiration and motivation for stepping up and taking action, realizing that it’s up to us to do so and now is the time.
Both questions express the concept of personal responsibility, but I feel more connected to the second. Life can throw us curveballs, and how we handle them will eventually define us. Personally, I can relate. I have struggled with and survived getting divorced, grieving my daughter’s sudden death, being fired from a job, watching my thriving business go into a deep decline, being addicted to alcohol, aging and wrestling with my faith in God.
Asking myself If not now, when? energizes and inspires me, and has helped me get unstuck. It led me to create the Foundation that honors my daughter’s legacy of service and love. And I’ve learned that it can put the spotlight on someone or something that is either elevating our lives or putting us in a deeper pit of darkness — causing us to look more closely at what may be holding us back and make a decision to do something differently.
Each week, I plan to share a blog post containing the knowledge, wisdom and common sense I’ve come to have as a result of the life choices I’ve made. My goal is to share with you how, regardless of what life throws you, things can get better. I’d also like to hear from you. If you don’t feel comfortable sharing your thoughts in a comment below, you can reach me via the contact form on our website. If not now, when? What does that mean for you in the context of what’s happening in your life right now? I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely, Jimmy DeLoach Jr.
