The Abbie DeLoach Foundation has been the proud sponsor of the annual Georgia Southern University True Blue 5K/Abbie’s Adventure Race since 2018. This is our 5th year partnering with the Georgia Southern University Campus Recreation and Intramurals and I’m really looking forward to it.
The event will be held in the morning during the school’s homecoming weekend festivities on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2022. This race is all about showing the True Blue spirit, having fun, and competing — all that reminds me of Abbie and what she loved about life. While at GSU, she was in the nursing program, played intramural sports and was in the Kappa Delta sorority.
This True Blue spirit will lead up to the football game later that night.
- Abbie’s Adventure Race starts at 7:30 a.m. It’s meant to be run with a partner. During the 5K course there are “Mystery Challenges” set up throughout the race (various mental, physical and fun challenges spread throughout). I don’t want to “give away” the surprises in store for the participants, but let’s just say it will be fun and you might get a little wet and muddy.
- True Blue 5K is a traditional 5K race and that starts at 8:00 a.m. Show True Blue pride! Walk or run, this race is for anyone looking for a fun trek through the beautiful Georgia Southern Statesboro campus.
- Kiddie Run – There’s also a quarter-mile Kiddie Run (this one is free!)
- True Blue 5K virtual. We have had a virtual runner participate as far as Japan!
- New this year: How to beat Nebraska after a 60-minute run inside a home stadium.
Something to note is that the Abbie DeLoach Foundation will donate $1,000 to the student organization (or the charity of its choice) that registers the largest number of participants. (If you are a virtual runner you can type in the organization and support them.)
Registration is open now.
We hope you will join us in honoring Abbie’s legacy at the True Blue 5K or Abbie’s Adventure Race.
Live inspired,
Jimmy
