I would like to share this tribute to credit my mother for inspiring me to serve others through the Abbie DeLoach Foundation. Her selfless example is one reason that I embarked on this journey to give back to others, in Abbie’s name.
Ninety years ago, in the heart of Hinesville, Georgia, a young girl began her journey on a rural farm. Amidst the tales of her humble beginnings was a love story that stands as the foundation of everything she achieved: her unwavering love for my dad, Jimmy “Mondell” DeLoach, Sr., and the family they built together. Here are a few highlights:
• A beacon in Garden City, Georgia, she was named the “Mother of the Year” – a testament to her heart that beats not just for her own family, but for every child and family she touched.
• The Mayor of Savannah recognized her influence and dedication by bestowing upon her the Key to the City
• At Mercer Middle School, her commitment bore fruit when the school was awarded the “School of Excellence” by the State of Georgia. A proud day saw Gov. Zell Miller inaugurate his Hope Scholarship plan.
• Now as she embraces her 90th year, her lifelong service and citizenship have been acknowledged by Congressman Buddy Carter with the Congressional Recognition of the 118th Congress, First Session
To my mother, our matriarch, who moved from Hinesville to the corridors of recognition, while always keeping God, her first love Mondell, and her family at the core: Your legacy is an inspiration to us all. Celebrating every milestone, every honor and above all the love and resilience you’ve shown throughout. Happy 90th, Mom, with endless love and gratitude. #proudson#legacyofservice
