At the Abbie DeLoach Foundation, one of our most important missions is promoting safer roads through our Hands Free for Abbie campaign.
Created in memory of Abbie DeLoach, this initiative is dedicated to raising awareness about the dangers of distracted driving—especially the use of mobile devices behind the wheel. Through education, advocacy, and community engagement, we are working to encourage drivers to stay focused, present, and hands-free every time they get on the road.
During a recent appearance on WSAV’s Community Corner, we highlighted the continued growth and impact of the Hands Free for Abbie campaign. From speaking engagements in schools and communities to partnerships with local organizations, the campaign is reaching drivers of all ages with a simple but powerful message: no text, no call, no notification is worth a life.
Our efforts support and reinforce Georgia’s hands-free driving law, while also going beyond legislation to inspire real behavioral change. By sharing Abbie’s story, we aim to create a personal connection that encourages individuals to think twice before picking up their phone while driving.
In addition to advocacy work, we continue to provide resources and opportunities for young people to get involved—empowering them to become ambassadors for safe driving in their own communities.
While scholarships and service remain a meaningful part of our foundation, the Hands Free for Abbie campaign represents a critical way we can help prevent tragedies and protect lives.
We are grateful for the support of our community and partners who help amplify this message every day. Together, we can honor Abbie’s legacy by making safer choices behind the wheel.
